Trauma-informed Birth Debrief Service

A non-judgemental, compassionate, listening service which will set you up on the path to healing your pain.

This special service has been designed especially for womxn who have had an upsetting pregnancy, birth or postnatal experience and wish to talk about their feelings and emotions with someone who really cares. 

Bottling up upsetting feelings can take a real toll on your wellbeing and often, talking about your emotions is the first step to true healing. But maybe you feel like your friends will get tired of hearing your story or you worry that they’ll expect you to feel stronger than you do. Maybe your partner is going through their own struggles and you feel like you don’t want to burden them. Maybe you’ve lost trust with medical professionals or the thought of going back to talk to someone at the maternity unit terrifies you. 

So where do you turn?

I have developed a heart-centred, loving, listening service having trained as a doula and hypnobirthing practitioner with a special focus on perinatal trauma and anxiety. Having experienced my own traumatic birth in 2014, I understand what it’s like to be told you should ‘just get on with it’ when deep down, the weight of the experience holds you down every single day. I am here to hold you up, to listen, to care and to support you in finding your path forward to healing.

I know that with the right support, every parent can feel light, joyful and present with their family each and every day. You deserve that too.

How does it work?

The trauma-informed birth debrief service can cover anything you wish to talk about in relation to your pregnancy, birth or postnatal experience.

The first step is an informal chat of up to an hour for you to get to know me and ask me any questions. I offer free coaching on how to ‘ground yourself’ and find peace during periods of anxiety during this call.

The second step is a nurturing session of between 60 and 120 mins with the aim of supporting you in healing and lifting non-serving emotions. I will listen with an open, non-judgemental heart and with a perspective of compassion, respect and love. The session ends with a calming, restorative guided meditation to leave you feeling positive and at ease.

The investment is £97 and the initial chat and grounding techniques are free. The service can be offered in person at your home, where location and Covid-19 restrictions allow, or can be offered online via Zoom. 

A ‘pay what you can’ package is available to all during the Covid-19 pandemic. To contribute to the fight to improve equality in maternity services, discounts on all BirthSure services will continue after the pandemic for BAME womxm and their partners.

When you’ve been through an upsetting perinatal experience, it can be really tough to make sense of all of the different emotions that you may be feeling, when you’re already exhausted and consumed by the demands of motherhood.

Perhaps you feel confused. None of it makes sense, after all, you prepared so well for motherhood. You had everything planned.

As you lie awake, contemplating your experience, it feels SO UNFAIR. On the worst days, it feels like something was taken from you. You’d never say it out loud, but you can’t help but feel like you ‘failed’. That is such a hard place to be, I know.

Honey, we need to talk!

I help womxn who are feeling this way relieve these non-serving emotions and move forward into a new phase, the weight of these heavy emotions finally lifted.

I’ll hold the space for you to process your emotions, so that you can feel confident, calm and in control when talking about your experience. Finally you can join in the conversation at mums groups without worrying about bursting into tears.

I believe that every womxn should feel immensely proud and should be able to harness their immense strength and courage as they journey through motherhood. I believe that time spent with family should be free of insecurities and every womxn should live to their full potential as a mother. Every womxn deserves this. Every single one.

Having experienced my own upsetting caesarean birth in 2014, my eyes were opened to a brand new range of emotions – many of these feelings were painful and heavy. Shouldn’t I feel more grateful to have a healthy baby? Isn’t that enough? What the hell was wrong with me?

On the outside, I was coping quite well. But every time my baby cried, I wondered if it was a result of the birth experience. Was he ok? Did he remember it? It was a dark shadow hanging over my experience of motherhood.

I worked through these emotions alone, I thought to myself ‘motherhood is supposed to be hard and tiring isn’t it?’. I scrambled through the days, trying to find my feet emotionally as well as physically (oh, and let’s not forget that ‘little’ job of looking after a baby too!).

Fast forward to today. I have left behind the corporate career I had for 10 years and have devoted myself to serving womxn in being able to flourish during the perinatal period. Because womxn being able to flourish matters. It matters a huge, huge amount.

Every single pregnancy matters. Every single birth matters. Every single baby matters. Every single mother matters.

You matter.

Over the past four years I have trained as a Doula and Hypnobirthing Practitioner with a special focus on perinatal trauma and the emotional wellness of mothers. I believe in supporting mothers to give themselves the time, care and love they deserve but so infrequently experience. Empowering and encouraging mothers is my ‘thing’ and I want to see you thrive, my dear.

I am not a doctor and I won’t ‘cure’ you. I will hold the space for you so that you can explore your emotions and harness the power of your own healing.
